Jynx Tattoo & Piercing

Now let me start with my business " surprise, surprise " and why we make the list.

Jynx has only been established for coming up 2 years but piercing runs through our vains and is the heart beat of the studio.

What makes Jynx Different?
  1. As cheesy as it may sound we care. we care about every customer that comes through that door. why, because each piercing we do is like a form of art and is attached to our brand and us as body piercers.
  2.  We are guided and follow UKAPP practices.
  3.  Our body piercers regularly attend seminars to keep up to date with the latest techniques and safe practices.
  4.  Our head piercer Adele helped launch the popularity of gold body jewellery in Southampton before moving to Jynx.
  5.  Our Body piercers are apprentice trained from the ground up and are not crash course piercers.
  6.  All of our Jewellery used is either ASTM F-136 Implant Grade or 14ct/18ct Gold.
  7.  We are about more than just the piercing itself, we like to create informative content online to help customers with their piercins woes.

Metal Fatigue

A long standing part of the Bournemouth alternative scene, founded by the well known sarge. You can not mention piercing bournemouth without paying homarge to the ogs.

Myself and my wife both had piercings with sarge and personally found the experience very pleasant.

Since sarge unfortunate passing Metal Fatigue is now run by the lovely AJ & Simon. Both have been very approachable and friendly to us at Jynx.

I will always respect those that were here first and ill only ever send customers to places I trust if we are to busy and metal fatigue is the only one in Bournemouth. AJ sends the odd tattoo client our way also which I certainly appreciate. It is very refreshing to not but heads with competition, we are all about helping each other out.

Titanic Southampton

If you fancy travelling a little further or take a trip to Southampton then pay the guys at Titanic a visit. All their piercers are apprentice trained by the very experienced Louise/Weeze

Louise will soon be moving on to start her tattoo apprenticeship but they still have some good piercers to help with any piercing needs.

Their are a couple of studio owners in Bournemouth " Obviously I can't mention no names " that care more about profits and fast tracking piercers than what is the most important thing of all, the care of the customers. That follows on nicely to our next bit of advice.

Tips On Picking The Right Studio

  1. Sterile Sanctuaries: Picture this: you step into a piercing studio, and it's like entering a pristine palace of cleanliness. From the gleaming countertops to the smell of fresh antiseptic, everything screams professionalism and hygiene. Choosing a studio that prioritizes cleanliness means you can relax and focus on the excitement of your new piercing without worrying about nasty infections.

  2. Expert Artisans: Behind every flawless piercing is a skilled artist wielding their needle like a maestro conducting a symphony. When you choose a studio staffed with certified piercers who live and breathe body art, you're not just getting a piercing—you're getting a masterpiece. These talented folks have the training and expertise to turn your vision into reality, whether you're going for something subtle or statement-making.

  3. Jewelry Galore: Your body is a canvas, and the jewelry you choose is like the paint that brings it to life. When you pick a piercing studio with an extensive selection of high-quality jewelry, the possibilities are endless. From classic studs to intricate hoops, you'll find everything you need to express your unique style and personality. Plus, with options crafted from hypoallergenic materials, you can rock your new bling with confidence.

  4. Rave Reviews: In the age of the internet, word travels fast—especially when it comes to piercing studios. Before you commit to a studio, do a quick search online to see what others are saying. If you find glowing reviews praising the studio's professionalism, expertise, and impeccable hygiene practices, consider it a sign that you're in good hands. After all, happy customers don't lie!

  5. Warm Welcomes: Last but certainly not least, the atmosphere of a piercing studio can make or break your experience. Look for a studio where you feel welcomed with open arms, where the staff greet you with smiles and put you at ease from the moment you walk in. A friendly, inclusive environment can turn a nerve-wracking experience into a memorable adventure you'll cherish for years to come.

Reasons to Avoid A Piercing Studio

  1. Hygiene Horror Stories: Picture this: you walk into a piercing studio, and instead of the crisp, clean scent of antiseptic, you're hit with a wave of... well, let's just say it's not pleasant. If the studio looks more like a scene from a horror movie than a place of professionalism, it's time to turn around and walk right out that door.

  2. Dodgy Equipment: Your body deserves the best, and that includes top-of-the-line equipment. If you spot needles that look like they've seen better days or jewelry that's seen one too many piercings, it's a sign that this studio isn't putting your safety first. Don't settle for anything less than sterile, single-use needles and high-quality jewelry.

  3. Untrained "Professionals": Would you trust a dentist who learned everything they know from YouTube tutorials? I didn't think so. The same goes for piercers. If the person wielding the needle doesn't have the proper certifications or training, run for the hills (or at least the nearest reputable studio).

  4. Limited Jewelry Selection: Your body, your choice, right? Right! So why settle for a piercing studio that offers a limited selection of jewelry? Whether you're into classic studs or funky hoops, you deserve options. If the studio's jewelry selection is as bare as a newborn babe, it's a sign that they're not keeping up with the times.

  5. Negative Reviews Galore: Thanks to the magic of the internet, we can now read reviews for just about anything—piercing studios included. If a quick Google search reveals horror stories of botched piercings and unsanitary conditions, take heed. Your future self will thank you.

  6.  Appropriate Training: Everyone will have their own opinion on this but we would highly suggest only getting pierced by someone who has taken part in a full-time apprenticeship. You they have simply done a three to four day crash course and then released into the community free to pierce whoever they please.  Their is allot more to piercing than just putting a needle through someone  body part. A professional cares about the materials they use, their anatomy, sizing and continued training.

The UKAPP states

Unfortunately, piercing courses are not recommended. It simply isn’t possible to teach everything you would need to know to pierce safely and independently by completing a course that lasts only a few days or weeks. Piercing courses are a money-making enterprise, often set up by piercers using outdated methods, and many people who do a course end up having to look for an apprenticeship later to fill all the gaps in their knowledge.

How can you tell the difference between a professional piercer & a crash courser?

Distinguishing between a body piercer who has undergone a thorough apprenticeship and one who has merely completed a course can be important for ensuring quality and safety. Here are some signs to look for:

  1. Experience and Skill Level: An apprentice typically gains hands-on experience under the supervision of an experienced piercer for an extended period, often lasting months to years. This experience allows them to develop a deep understanding of piercing techniques, anatomy, and proper sterilization procedures. A piercer who has only completed a course may lack this extensive practical experience and might not be as skilled in performing piercings or their are certain piercings they are unable to do.

  2. Quality of Work: Piercings done by someone with a proper apprenticeship tend to be of higher quality. They are more likely to be placed correctly, heal properly, and minimize the risk of complications. Look for consistent and well-executed piercings, with attention to detail and cleanliness.

  3. Knowledge and Understanding: An apprentice typically gains a comprehensive understanding of piercing techniques, materials, aftercare procedures, and potential risks through their apprenticeship. They are often able to provide thorough explanations and advice to clients. On the other hand, someone who has only completed a course may have a more superficial understanding of these aspects.

  4. Professionalism: Piercers who have undergone a proper apprenticeship often demonstrate a higher level of professionalism. This includes maintaining a clean and safe studio environment, adhering to industry standards and regulations, and prioritizing client safety and satisfaction.

  5. Recommendations and Reputation: Word-of-mouth recommendations and the piercer's reputation within the industry can also be indicators of their level of training and expertise. A piercer who has completed a reputable apprenticeship under a well-respected mentor is likely to have a positive reputation in the community.

  6. Continued Learning: A piercer who has undergone an apprenticeship is more likely to continue their education and skill development over time. They may attend workshops, conferences, or pursue further certifications to stay updated on the latest techniques and best practices in the industry.

  7. Other red flags: They will probably be proud to display their certificate from a piercing acadamy such as the London Piercing Academy. Their social media content may also give away signs of inexperience or lack of care. Do their photos look clean as in no dried blood. are they in a clean environment.
