That’s why all our jewellery comes exclusively from APP-approved vendors, ensuring it meets the highest standards in safety and quality. We avoid cheap, mass-produced brands and never use inferior products, so you can trust that every piece we offer is crafted with care and designed to last.
What is this APP you speak of?
In piercing, UKAPP stands for the United Kingdom Association of Professional Piercers. It’s a nonprofit organization committed to improving safety, education, and standards within the UK’s piercing industry. Similar to its American counterpart, the APP (Association of Professional Piercers), the UKAPP promotes high standards for piercing studios, including stringent guidelines on sterilization, jewelry quality, aftercare, and hygiene practices.
The UKAPP sets these standards to protect both clients and piercers, ensuring that every piercing experience is as safe and hygienic as possible. Standards include the use of high-quality, implant-grade jewelry materials (like titanium or 14-karat gold), single-use needles, autoclave sterilization, and a clean studio environment. Adhering to these guidelines greatly reduces risks of infection, rejection, and other complications that can arise from unsafe practices or low-quality jewelry.

what type of materials do you pierce with?
At Jynx we will only pierce with implant grade titanium " the same as hospitals use " in titanium terms this is astm f136 titanium.
We will also use 18ct/14ct gold body jewellery.
IS THE BODY JEWELLERY INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
Yes, our high-grade titanium jewellery is included in the price however we do also offer a number of upgrades.
DO YOU USE A PIERCING GUN OR NEEDLE?
We use disposable, single use needles exclusively as piercing guns are unhygienic and can’t be sterilised.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A NEW PIERCING?
It only takes a matter of minutes to get a new piercing however we always allocate longer so you’re not rushed.
WHEN CAN I CHANGE MY BODY JEWELLERY?
That depends on the piercing in question, but the piercer will advice you on this as part of the consultation.
WHAT CAN I DO IF MY PIERCING GETS INFECTED?
There can be different types of infection affecting your piercing. You need to come and see us or send us a picture of the affected area so we can advise you regarding treatment. In 90% of all cases you don’t need to remove your piercing, so please do not remove it before consulting with us.
CAN I GET AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO THE PIERCING?
No as we use high grade titanium jewellery which contains no trace of nickel
CAN I USE THE GYM/SAUNA/SWIMMING POOL/SUNBED AFTER GETTING A NEW PIERCING?
We advise avoiding such activities while the piercing is healing so that it does not end up getting infected.
DO YOU DO PIERCINGS IN A STERILE/HYGIENIC ENVIRONMENT?
Yes, our studio is fully licenced by Bournemouth Council and meets all Health & Safety regulations.
CAN I GET MORE THAN ONE PIERCING AT A TIME?
Yes but we don’t recommend any more than 3 on any one visit.

Tattoo FAQ's
DOES IT HURT?
Yes, some areas such as the ribs/sternum hurt more than other areas but for the most part each area is bearable.
How much do tattoos cost at jynx?
This depends style, size and time.
Our base price is £50 for a flash tattoo or something small.
Full day sessions range from £350 to £400.
Cover-ups will depend on the size and what we are covering, so please either pop in or send us over as much information as possible.

CAN I GET A WHITE TATTOO?
You certainly can yes but white ink is barely visible and will definitely fade over time.
CAN I GET AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO THE TATTOO INK?
We only use hypoallergenic inks that have been tested and are not harmful for the skin. All our inks are suitable for vegans.
DO YOU USE DISPOSABLE NEEDLES?
Yes all of our needles are disposable and one use.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A NEW TATTOO TO HEAL?
The majority of tattoos will heal within 2 weeks if you follow our tattoo aftercare advice we provide.
CAN I USE THE GYM/SAUNA/SWIMMING POOL/SUNBED AFTER GETTING A NEW TATTOO?
We advise you avoid such activities until the tattoo is fully healed so it does not get infected or the colour fades.
DO YOU DO TATTOOS IN A STERILE/HYGIENIC ENVIRONMENT?

Do you have any cover up artists?
Yes a number of our artists offer cover ups.
