Everything you need to know before and after your tattoo appointment at Jynx Tattoos.

Following these simple guidelines will help ensure the best possible tattoo experience and support healthy healing for long-lasting results.

Before Your Appointment

Getting ready for your tattoo is just as important as looking after it afterwards.

Before You Arrive

✔ Get a good night’s sleep

✔ Eat a substantial meal before your appointment

✔ Stay hydrated

✔ Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area

✔ Arrive on time for your appointment

✔ Bring photo ID if requested

Please Avoid

✖ Excessive alcohol the night before your appointment

✖ Arriving on an empty stomach

✖ Taking recreational drugs before your appointment

✖ Excessive sun exposure or sunburn on the area being tattooed

If you are feeling unwell before your appointment, please contact the studio as soon as possible.

Tattoo Aftercare

Looking after your new tattoo properly is essential for the healing process and the longevity of your artwork.

Cling Film

If your tattoo has been covered with cling film, leave it on for 2–3 hours before removing.

Dermalize / Second Skin

If your tattoo has been covered with Dermalize or Second Skin, leave it in place for 3–5 days.

When removing, do so gently in the shower using warm water.

Cleaning Your Tattoo

Once the dressing has been removed:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly.

2. Gently clean the tattoo under warm water.

3. If the tattoo is still very gooey, allow it to dry naturally before applying any aftercare products.

4. Pat dry using kitchen roll or a clean towel.

Do not rub the tattoo.

Moisturising

Once the tattoo is clean and dry, apply a thin layer of aftercare product.

We recommend:

• Palmers Cocoa Butter

• Tattoo Goo

• Butterlux

Apply a small amount whenever the skin feels dry.

Less is more. Do not smother the tattoo with aftercare products.

During The Healing Process

For the next 4–6 weeks:

✔ Keep the tattoo clean

✔ Keep the skin hydrated

✔ Allow any flaking or peeling to happen naturally

✔ Wear clean clothing over the area

Please Avoid

✖ Swimming pools

✖ Hot tubs

✖ Saunas

✖ Picking or scratching the tattoo

✖ Prolonged sun exposure

✖ Applying fake tan to the area

Touch Ups

If your tattoo requires a touch up, please contact us within 45 days of your appointment to arrange this.

Touch ups requested after 45 days may be subject to a charge.
